Thanks to the wonderful crews of the Princess Riverboat for three days of carnival-like "Casino Cruises." And kudos to my talented performing partner, the world's greatest Dean Martin vocal impressionist, Mr. Bobby Morelli, for his endless charm and musical madness. Above, Bobby cools on the dock before rockin' the boat.
This Friday night, April 23, I'm singing in a downtown storefront window, for an art event called "Looking Out, Looking In" (http://www.lookinginlookingout.com/). This "supercool urban performance art happening" has been running all this week, and is being produced by my old buddy, art entrepreneur Paul Stewart.
The cool thing about Friday night is that it happens during Pittsburgh's very popular Art Crawl, so there is much to see and do. I'll be performing sporadically throughout the night, doing swing, blues, jazz and pop in my "Dr. Vinnie Vegas" persona. This is the first time I've performed in a street-level window since I used to do "robot-maniken" work in the mid-1970's.
If you happen to be downtown, please stop by to say hello, and have a great weekend regardless.
Lead vocalist Paul Jost is a great friend, and one of my fav jazz singers of all time. Bob Shomo on drums, Tim Lekan on bass and Jim Ridl on keys (AntfarmQuartet.com).
I discussed in the podcast: FOUNTAIN INFINITY. I'm stage-directing their act, solely because I believe they have major international potential. They're all wonderful performers and writers, each with his own unique stage presence and innate theatrical instincts. In short, they're deeply creative and wonderful to work with - keeping me young at heart. Rock on, boys.
"During this episode "Classic" will interview Buster Maxwell. Buster is a stage performance coach. They will discuss the importance of branding, style tips & stage presence. As usual, Classic will feature great indie music as well. Buster Maxwell was born in a backstage trunk - and still can't get out. He's been involved in every aspect of entertainment from writing and producing shows with symphony orchestras to providing the voice of Spiderman on Marvel's first video games. Today, he continues to be excited by his 30-year experience in coaching and directing rock and pop bands and performers, with an emphasis on the development of a professional, killer stage show. He is presently working with the intense young rock band Fountain Infinity. NOTE There is a 2 minute dead air because of technical difficulties during this episode Sorry..hang in there. It comes back. PLAYLIST: Little Helpers - Sabotage, Megaphone - Write it Down, Torn Affair - The Surgeon, Fountain Infinity - The Dream, Julia Bryan - No More Hurricanes, The Death Ships -Story Never Gets Old, The Death Ships - Symmetrical Smiles, Junkyard Groove - It's OK." - Hosted by Jeff "Classic" Popka
